A majority of Americans today believe that some socialism is
necessary.
There are some policy questions, and some candidates, that are not
just academic or political issues. They are moral issues.
That means that one side is moral and the other side is immoral.
The Bible says "Thou
shalt not steal."
The Two Major Parties add, ". .
.except by majority vote."
Suppose you're in the widget
business, manufacturing and selling that all-purpose handy-dandy tool.
Your competitor is a friend of the Congressman, and tells the
Congressman that if a bill is passed giving his business a grant to
research better ways to produce widgets, he will contribute to the
Congressman's campaign, and make sure all his employees vote for the
Congressman in the next election. This bill will take money from your
business and give it to your competitor. Is this moral?
Suppose you're a single mother, working two jobs. The government
takes money out of your paychecks for "Social
Security." That money is not saved for your retirement,
or invested so that it grows larger each year, it is given to the widget
maker above, or else it is used to pay the Social Security benefits for
wealthy retirees in Florida or Arizona. Is this moral?
These are just two of many examples of government theft. The recent
"bailout" is another.
Socialism is theft.
If you don't like your hard-earned money being taken from you and
given to others who didn't work for it, and you attempt to resist those
who would take it from you, you will be arrested or shot if necessary.
"We have ways of making you 'contribute.'"
Socialism is institutionalized violence.
The federal budget represents over $2 trillion of theft. Well over
half of everything you earn is taken from you by the government.
In this election, you have the opportunity to say that government
redistribution of wealth is immoral. The ONLY way you can
send that message is by voting for the Libertarian Party candidate,
Kevin Craig. Voting for
the Republican incumbent won't send that message; it will send the
message that you approve of his taking over $2 trillion from other
Americans. Voting for the Democrat certainly won't send that message.
What message will you send on Election Day?
Capitalism or immorality?
The main issue in present-day political struggles is whether society
should be organized on the basis of private ownership of the means of
production (capitalism, the market system) or on the basis of public
control of the means of production (socialism, communism, planned
economy). Capitalism means free enterprise, sovereignty of the consumers
in economic matters, and sovereignty of the voters in political matters.
Socialism means full government control of every sphere of the
individual's life and the unrestricted supremacy of the government in
its capacity as central board of production management. There is no
compromise possible between these two systems. Contrary to popular
fallacy there is no middle way, no third system possible as a pattern of
a permanent social order. The citizens must choose between capitalism
and socialism or, as many Americans say, between the American and the
Russian way of life.
-- Ludwig von Mises, Bureaucracy [1944]
Total government spending now amounts to roughly 43 percent of the
national income.[11] On top of this,
the Clinton administration’s Task Force on Reinventing Government
estimated in September 1993 that “the cost to the private sector of
complying with [government] regulations is at least $430 billion
annually — 9 percent of our gross domestic product!”[12]
Nobel Laureate economist Milton Friedman observes, “The private
economy has become an agent of the federal government…. At least 50
percent of the total productive resources of our nation are now being
organized through the political market. In that very important sense, we
are more than half socialist.”[13]
The average American now works over half of each year simply to pay the
cost of government taxes and regulations.

Chapter from Lost
Rights
(1994), written in 1993, reprinted on his

Today's Regulatory costs are over
$1 trillion. The United States is now More
Communist Than China.
- An economics professor at a local
college made a statement that he had never failed a single student
before, but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that Obama's
socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be
rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we
will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".
All grades would be averaged and
everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no
one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were
averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were
upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the
students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who
studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied
little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the
average was an F.
The scores never increased as
bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and
no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise,
and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately
fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is
great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try
or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that.
The professor is a genius
And if somebody is unable to
understand THIS explanation, I have serious doubts about their
ability to even function in society, much less run the country!
As the late Adrian Rogers said,
"you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
