One of the biggest questions of the 21st century (so far) is "Did Saddam Hussein have weapons of mass destruction?"
In order to answer that question, we have to know what "weapons of mass destruction" are.
In the minds of most people, "Weapons of mass destruction" means nuclear weapons. This is incorrect.
There are two definitions:
- a weapon that kills indiscriminately -- including innocent non-combatant civilian men, women and children.
- any weapon that enemies of the U.S. government have.
- this includes weapons that were used in World War I.
- it includes hand grenades, when used by those the U.S. government wants to call "terrorists."
Nuclear disarmament is considered here.
"Just war theory" is considered here. All weapons of mass destruction violate just war principles by definition. They indiscriminately kill the innocent.
Some chemical weapons used in the Iraq-Iran war were supplied to Iraq by the United States.
